You may have noticed that you did not receive a food choice with your invitation, as you might have expected with more traditional wedding invitations. That is for one very simple reason: You don't have a choice in the traditional sense. Instead, we've opted for an assortment of delicious handmade and fresh hors d'oeuvres. Think natural and amazing. We have Crissy's boss, Cheri, to thank for all of the deliciousness that will happen.
Here is just a sampling of what will be available for you to choose from:
- Assorted crostini & bruschetta
- Grilled marinated asparagus (some perhaps wrapped in prosciutto)
- Assorted raw vegetables with hummus and dip
- Shrimp cocktail
- Caprese "salad" skewers (delicious cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil)
- Assorted cheeses and crackers
- Grilled steak and chicken skewers with assorted sauces (homemade barbecue sauce and a homemade chimchurri)
- Grilled vegetables and potatoes
- Water chestnuts wrapped in bacon
- Butternut squash ravioli with a sage butter
And, then there will be the assorted desserts. Some of these desserts will be compliments of myself, some might be compliments of Crissy's mom, and some are likely to be compliments of our friend, Audrey. Everyone will receive appropriate credit, of course, when it's all decided. But you may be able to partake in delicious bite sized portions (seriously - all of these will be small) of:
- Carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
- Chocolate cupcakes with raspberry deliciousness
- Vanilla cupcake with undecided deliciousness topping it
- Lemon bars
- Gluten free brownies
- Homemade almond joy "balls"
- Bite size pecan pies
- Fruit snacks
(Perhaps sadly for you, desserts are not completely finalized, but these are all of the things we're thinking about and have discussed. We love the idea of bite sized options with lots of choices!)
