Sleep & Stuff

Overnight Accomodations

As mentioned in a blog post somewhere, it was noted that there is the option of camping out in the backyard after the wedding/reception.  This clearly means you would not be able to sleep until all people were done dancing, partying, enjoying their evening.  It also means you would be sleeping on the ground with the bugs and whatever animals decide to visit you.  I'll just throw it out there that raccoons and deer are very common creatures in the backyard.  You're all adults - you can make your own decisions.  So, that is overnight accomodation #1.  Camping.  The rules for camping are as follows:  (1) Clothing is preferred when not in a tent.  (2) Loud noises are kept to a minimum.  The house is in a residential area...and there are neighbors.  (3) You may not sleep in the pool.  We don't want people drowning.  (4) No "waste" (if you know what I mean) in the yard.

The other option for overnight accomodations, if you will not be returning to your own home is the Sleep Inn & Suites in Washington - perhaps two-ish miles from the Malott house.  There is no set "block" reserved; however, I have been assured that as of today (7/18/11) there are approximately 20 unreserved/unblocked rooms.  They have offered a group rate, with rooms costing $76.49 for 1 king or 2 queen beds.  They also offer a king suite with a mini fridge and microwave, which they are offering a group rate of $85-ish.  All rooms come with a hot continental breakfast.  Here's what you need to know if staying there:
  • Phone number: (309) 481-0450
  • Indicate that you're with a wedding and there's a group rate
  • Mention either "Malott" or "Heffren"
  • Enjoy!
  • If you stay at the hotel, just click on the map below for "Directions" and you can do directions from your location to the hotel and then you can map directions from the hotel to "6 Hillcrest Court, Washington, IL" to get you to the wedding.

Parking

There will be street parking for the wedding.  The Malott house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and if you arrive early enough, you may be able to "snag" one of the spots on their street.  However, there is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood and within a block or two.

Transportation

Things are looking good for transportation to and from Sleep Inn & Suites to the wedding/reception.  They have a shuttle that is *likely* available for our use.  I'll update this about 1-2 weeks prior to the wedding with the definite information.  Assuming all things work out, you will be able to park & check-in at the hotel, be picked up at a set time from the hotel to arrive at the wedding -- and then we will likely have two return times to leave the reception and return to the hotel.  No cost for you....means no drunk driving.
